From The Sunday Times bestselling author of the Helen Grace series comes the gripping new thriller perfect for fans of James Patterson, Angela Marsons and Karin Slaughter.
‘Strikingly well-told, and with a compelling central character’ Daily Mail
With just one look, she knows how and when you will die . . .
Nothing surprises Adam Brandt anymore. As a forensic psychologist, he’s seen and heard everything.
That is, until he meets Kassie.
Because she claims to have a terrible gift – with one look into your eyes, she can see when and how you will die.
Adam doesn’t believe her, obviously.
But then a serial killer starts wreaking havoc across the city, and only Kassie seems to know where he’ll strike next.
Against all his intuition, Adam starts to believe her.
He just doesn’t realise how dangerous this trust might be . . .
Today is my stop on the A Gift for Dying blog tour. Many thanks to @Tr4cyF3nt0n for the chance to read and review.
My thoughts – I am a huge fan of M.J Arlidge, and if you too are a fan of the DI Grace books you will not be disappointed in this stand alone book.
Kassie has a gift but it brings her nothing but trouble, if she looks into your eyes she knows how you will die and when. Her mother doesn’t understand or believe and Kassie has her own ways of coping.
However now she is drawn into a series of killings, she knew they were going to die, she tried to warn them. Now she is the prime suspect.
Adam Brandt is a successful forensic psychologist, and the police want his help with Kassie. They are sure she is guilty but after spending time with her, he is sure she isn’t. In fact he starts to believe in her gift, but what will this cost him?
The relationship that grows between Kassie and Adam is full of emotion as Kassie starts to finally trust someone, a relief for the young girl burdened with this ‘gift’. Adam, in turn looks beyond his scientific teaching and starts to realise not everything can be explained.
A thrilling read,highly recommended.
